This piece although called Spiral of Despair is in fact a helix. It represents, to me, the feelings and passages we fall into as emotions spiral out of control and into depression.
The red is for the anger and the blue for the melancholy, the black, which is literally rough on the canvas, is for the pure and utter desperation of useless, hopelessness of felt as we lose our whole self to the dreadful depression.
